DAY 1 : MARRAKECH | AÏT BEN HADDOU | OUARZAZATE/DADES

It’s an early start as we collect you from your hotel or riad in Marrakech and begin our journey through the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying spectacular scenery as we climb to 2,260m for the Tizi n’Tichka Pass.We drive into the Ounila Valley to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Aït Ben Haddou and the location backdrop for many Hollywood blockbusters. We pass by Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood” of Morocco, and head up through the Valley of the Roses – Morocco’s prime centre for rose cultivation – taking in the numerous picturesque Berber villages on the floor and sides of the valley.Our resting place for the night is at a hotel in the Dadès Gorge amid spectacular rock formations.

 

DAY 2 : DADES GORGE | TODRA GORGE | ERG CHEBBI

En route to the Sahara we drive in to the heart of the Todra Gorge with its corridor-like 300m high cliffs. Next we head to Erfoud where we stop for lunch before embarking on our drive through what resembles a lunar landscape before reaching Merzouga on the edge of the Sahara. Your Berber guides accompany you on your camel trek to the desert camp where you will enjoy a hearty Moroccan meal and entertainment under the stars.

 

DAY 3 : MERZOUGA | OUARZAZATE | MARRAKECH

We arise before daybreak to catch the magic of the Saharan sunrise. Then we saddle up to return to the ranch for breakfast and then the relative comfort of our air-conditioned vehicle which takes us through Ouarzazate, the movie capital of Morocco, before beginning our ascent of the High Atlas Mountains.Every twist and turn of these mountain roads reveals a new and spectacular vista. We arrive back in Marrakech in the early evening where we return you to your accommodation.
